Purchase to Production, Finally Connected
A BLDC motor manufacturer ran purchasing, quality checks, and production as separate manual processes. No single system tracked material from order to finished motor. Odoo ERP changed that.
Business Challenges
The client makes BLDC motors. They knew they needed a connected system before growing further. Purchasing, quality, and production were running as separate manual processes, with no single system tracking material from order to finished motor.
- No connected system across purchase, quality, and production
- No way to check the delivered quantity against what was ordered
- No formal quality check before material reached the warehouse
- No clear process for handling rejected material
- No bill of materials to guide what production needed
- No automatic link between inventory and production use
- Manual stock tracking that led to errors
- No single, trusted set of records for the whole shop floor

Our Approach
Purchase Requisition & Purchase Order
We set up the purchase module so the process starts with a purchase requisition. Once approved, it automatically creates the purchase order.
Receipt & GRN
The receipt shows proof of what was ordered and delivered. A Goods Receipt Note then confirms the actual quantity received against the ordered quantity.
Quality Control Workflow
We set up the QC module so the QC team inspects incoming material and marks it pass or fail before it moves further.
Warehouse Routing
Material that passes QC goes straight to the main warehouse. Material that fails QC goes to a disposition process, based on the type of material.
Bill of Materials & Production
We built the production module around bills of materials for the two BLDC motor types — 1200W and 1500W — to define how each motor is made.
Inventory-to-Production Handoff
Once a BOM is approved and production starts, inventory sends the requested material to production, and the on-hand stock is deducted automatically. This closes the loop from purchase through to the finished motor.
Key Outcomes
Industry context: 74% of manufacturers say they lacked visibility into their operations before switching to ERP — this project closed exactly that gap.
